More Than Forgiven

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” —Romans 5:1 (NIV)
Imagine standing in a courtroom. You’ve been charged with trespassing—caught entering a condemned building. But you weren’t there to cause harm. You were responding to a phone call for help. A friend was taking refuge inside during a winter storm.
You brought them hot coffee, food, and blankets. The law says you broke the rules. But the judge listens, sees your heart, and despite your violation says:
“You are justified. Your actions were right under the circumstances. Case dismissed.”
This is a glimpse of what it means to be justified by faith. Justification isn’t just forgiveness. It’s a divine declaration.
You are righteous. Not because you earned it, but because you trusted the One who is.
Forgiveness says, “You may go; your debt is canceled.”
Justification says, “You may come; you are welcomed as righteous.”
Through our faith in Jesus Christ, we’re not only cleansed—we’re clothed in His righteousness. God doesn’t merely pardon our sin; He sees us through the lens of grace and claims us, saying, “You are mine. You are right with me.”
So today, let that truth settle deep. We are not on trial. We are not merely tolerated. We are justified in faith—welcomed, affirmed, and at peace with God.
Let that assurance shape how we walk, how we serve, and how we see others. May we remember that we are more than forgiven—God’s grace has freed us.
Gracious God, thank You for the gift of justification—not earned, but received through faith. When we feel unworthy, remind us that You have declared us righteous. When we falter, remind us that our standing is secure in Christ. Let this truth shape our hearts, our relationships, and our witness. May we live as people of peace, clothed in grace, and confident in Your love. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Peace & Grace,
Pastor Tim
