Never Lost

“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” - Psalms 37:23-24 (NIV)
At our monthly family dinner last weekend, we were blessed to have the three grandchildren together. We went to a kid's place with bouncy houses and an indoor playground perfect for a cold, rainy day. At times, when they were playing, we would lose track of the two older kids, William and Blair; for just a heart-stopping moment, Georgie wasn’t a problem at nine months old, as one of us was always holding her. Even with four of us there, keeping track of two active children in a place crowded with other active children was a lot.
In today’s verse, the Lord never loses track of those who follow Him. As we tried our best to keep an eye on William and Blair amid the chaos, God has never lost track of us. Not for a moment is He distracted or panicked. He knows right where we are at all times.
He knows each of us intimately, never confusing us with anyone else. He is there when we stumble to take our hand, pulling us upright and leading us to safety. The Lord delights in us despite our imperfections and the distractions that tempt us. In a hustle and bustle world, He remains focused on each of us. We never need to fear becoming lost in the crowd; His attention on us is laser focused.
While our human attempts to keep track of those we love may falter, God’s care is unfailing. We can be comfortable that we are always in His sight and His hands, no matter how chaotic life becomes.
Gracious and Loving God, thank You for keeping Your eye upon us. You know each of us intimately, never mistaking us for another. In a chaotic world, You never lose sight of us. When we stumble, You will take our hands and raise us up. Thank You for Your kindness, care, and compassion, which assures us that we are loved. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
