Peace of Christ

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

Peace. While we all know what the word means, we often have trouble finding it for ourselves. We are constantly bombarded by messages of anti-peace, fear, and anxiety. That is what the world has to give.

There is only one source of peace; that which is found in Jesus Christ. When we tune out the world’s messages and tune in to the good news, we can see the peace we desperately seek. In God's word, we find the calm we desire. In conversation with God, we receive rest for our troubled hearts.

Jesus knew that finding peace can be difficult, so he promised to send the Holy Spirit as our advocate and helper. When the din of the world is so loud, we can't hear ourselves think, and when we are so unsettled, peace doesn't seem possible, we find comfort in the Holy Spirit. We can go on because Christ left his peace with us.

Precious Father, thank you for your Son in which we can find peace, and we give thanks for the comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit. We confess we sometimes become overwhelmed and bewildered by the messages of the world. When that happens, please help us remember we can find true peace in you. Amen.

Peace,

Pastor Tim
