Prevent & Protect

Writer's picture: timothyrsoutherntimothyrsouthern

No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. - Isaiah 54:17 NIV

We spend a lot of money on prevention and protection products. Here's just a few areas of prevention; drugs, car and home alarms, car tracking devices, car, and home maintenance, and cybersecurity software. We also take steps for when things do happen; health, car, and home insurance. Now we even need insurance for when someone steals our identity. The point is we want to be prepared for the "what-if" situations.

God is our prevention and protection against evil. He provides us with the whole armor; the belt, breastplate, shoes, helmet, shield, and sword (Eph. 6:10-18). Fully equipped, no weapon used against us will cause us harm. The attacks will still come, Satan will still launch his fiery darts, but they will not penetrate our souls. It's like being swarmed by gnats, it's annoying, but they do not harm us.

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are God's servants and are co-heirs with Christ. We have been redeemed, not because of our worth, but by God's grace. As his children, we enjoy his protection; it is part of our heritage.

Lord, we thank you for your prevention and protection of your children. Thank you for equipping us with what we need to stand against evil. You have redeemed us through salvation, given us your Word to inform us, and the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. God, we ask for your blessing today as we go into the world; when the fiery darts arrive, help us to remember your promise. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
