"Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done." Psalms 105:1 NIV
In mathematics, the formula for exponential growth can predict a result based on inputs. For example, if we were to try and estimate how much something will grow, say, disciples of Christ, the number of existing active witnesses, is a valuable piece of information. We cannot produce new disciples without current disciples spreading the message of Jesus Christ.
Today's text tells us to "proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done." To proclaim means to share boldly, passionately, and unabashedly. God's salvation is an invitation of love not to be kept locked away but freely given. Our proclamations must be made genuinely and with love, telling others what he has done for us. We do this following the perfect example of Jesus, with compassion and kindness.
Applying the principle of exponential growth, the more disciples who witness -- and we are all called to witness, the more the kingdom of God grows. The disciples we bring will go out and make more disciples, and so on. As God's true message of forgiveness and love expands and authentic Christianity grows, this earth begins to return to the original image of God for man. For this to happen, we each need to proclaim God's name.
Awesome God, we praise you with our hearts for who you are and what you do for us. We confess we have not proclaimed your name to others as we should. Please forgive us and give us the courage so we may share our stories of your goodness with others; help us to make disciples for you. We pray this in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
