Refuge

"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" Psalms 91:1‭-‬2

Several years ago, we were on a family trip to the midwest to visit our families. Our route took us through the beautiful mountains of Pennsylvania. This particular trip, a storm moved in quickly with high winds and driving rain. As we went under an overpass, we noticed some motorcyclists pulled off onto the shoulder, taking shelter from the elements. They had found a haven amid the storm.

Sometimes in life, we may feel like those bikers caught in a storm. We become buffeted by the high winds of fear and doubt, soaked to the skin by distress, and weary from the constant exposure of the media. When that happens, we can seek shelter and refuge in God. We can find peace, calm, and rest to restore our strength and continue our journey.

God, we give you thanks for your shelter. When the storms are too much for us to bear, we can turn to you in confidence for refuge. Lord, help us to remember that you are always willing to provide comfort, peace, and tranquility, not just during the storms but at all times. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
