Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
Anyone who owns a home has experienced remodeling in some form. We may undertake something big like replacing kitchen cabinets, counters, appliances, or something smaller like painting and wallpapering. Often we take beginning and ending pictures of the project to look back on the change later. In remodeling, we make our homes appear updated and fresh; it's still the same house with a new look.
When we accept Jesus, he moves into our spiritual homes and goes to work. We may have some underlying structural issues that need to be corrected. The systems we have relied on for so long must be replaced. Our homes need to be brought up to spiritual code. There may be walls that need to come down. The things we once found useful, now obsolete, may need to go. When Jesus, is done the house he started with looks radically different.
This remodeling is not a one time project. Through our prayers and obedience to the Holy Spirit, we are under continuous renovation as God works to make our spiritual homes into heavenly structures. The people we come into contact with us should notice the "Under Construction! God at Work" sign on the front lawn of our lives.
God, we give you thanks for replacing the old with the new. We ask you to take full control of our lives. Please do what you will; make us what you will. In Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Happy New Year!
Pastor Tim
Are there known changes for which we need to pray? What changes will we let God make to our spiritual homes this year?
