Requests for Prayer

Writer's picture: timothyrsoutherntimothyrsouthern

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 NIV

In writing to the church in Thessalonica, the Apostle Paul makes a prayer request. First that Jesus' good news is spread rapidly and would be heard. Secondly, the evil people would not impede their progress. Finally, he reminds them that God is faithful and will provide strength and protection. While he was confident in these things, he still desired their intercessory prayers.

Each time we gather, we share our concerns. We bring before God and the church, family, friends, and situations that trouble our souls. Our omniscient God is fully aware of each circumstance and how and when he will answer. But, when we offer intercessory prayer, we demonstrate our love for each other. Our earnest individual prayers are music to God's ears because they reveal our faith and our desire for his will to be done and his glory to be recognized. If our single voices are music, our combined prayers are a choir as we show our unity in faith.

Gracious God, we thank you for your faithfulness, strength, and protection. We come before you now, raising the people and situations that weigh heavy upon our hearts. We pray that our prayers be music to your ears. May your will be done in all things and that your glory be recognized. Please help us accept when we don't understand and acknowledge your grace and glory. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
