You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
Thinking back to the playground games we played in elementary school; you may recall King-of-the-Hill, Dodgeball, Foursquare, Tag, and Hide-and-Seek. You remember the game; the seeker would close their eyes and count to 10. Meanwhile, the other players would find a place to hide – behind trees, the easiest – but the better the hiding place, the less likely you will be found. You are “it” for the next round if you are discovered first.
As spiritual seekers, we sometimes treat God as something hidden and hard to find when he stands in the wide-open desiring to be seen. You can almost hear him shouting, Pick me! Pick me! I want to be first. Yet, we often overlook the obvious and instead seek the obscure, looking for the wrong things in the wrong places.
Gracious Father, we thank you for your compassion and love for us. You stand clearly before us, desiring to be found. Forgive us when we seek other things, and help us remember you are available to us constantly through Jesus Christ in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Shalom,
Pastor Tim
