Strawberry Fields Forever

"Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow." Galatians 6:7 NRSV

It is of no surprise to anyone that whatever you plant in the garden is what comes up. If you plant dandelions (weeds), you will not get strawberries. It just doesn't work that way.

The scripture today begins with a caution, God can't be fooled, he has full knowledge of what we sow; good and bad. If we sow bad things, living for our own sinful pleasure, we will reap destruction. If we plant dandelions, we will not be rewarded with strawberries, we reap what we planted weeds. We have a choice though if we lead a life pleasing to God; doing what is right, our sowing is blessed in abundance We are given the promise of eternal life. We will harvest a bumper crop of strawberries!

God, thank you for the promise of life eternal. Out of our love for you help us to sow only what is good today. Amen.
