"Let no one say when he is tempted, 'I am being tempted by God,' for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one." James 1:13 ESV
Today's verse raises the question, does God send us these trials and temptations? James says, absolutely, not! God is pure and holy and incapable of doing anything harmful. If not God, then what is the source? The answer is in verses 14, "But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire." It is our carnal nature, along with some promoting from Satan, is our worst enemy. The things we crave are the source of the temptations, not God. But God does play a role. Not as the source of our temptation but as our deliverer!
God, most Holy, we acknowledge in you everything pure and good. We give you thanks for delivery from sin. We ask for your help today as we fight our human desires. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
