The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psalms 19:1 NIV
A few years ago, Janice and I visited the immersive Beyond Van Gogh exhibit in Boston with friends—an unforgettable experience. As classical music played in the background, Van Gogh’s works flowed across the walls and floor like living art. Up close, details that often go unnoticed—expressions, brushwork, subtle hues—came to life. In Starry Night, broad brushstrokes swirl through the night sky, while the moon and stars cast their muted glow over a quiet French town before dawn.
Van Gogh was undoubtedly a brilliant artist, but his masterpieces pale in comparison to God’s majestic works. His work, like that of all artists, was merely a reflection of the original Creator. Each morning, as the eastern sky awakens with color, we are greeted by the stroke of God's hand and the vastness of His divine palette. In the evening, He closes the day with an equally breathtaking display in the west—a final masterpiece before night takes hold.
After the rain, when a rainbow arcs across the sky with its brilliant reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, indigos, and violets, we are reminded of both His promises and the unmatched beauty of His creation. Even the most celebrated artists, with all their genius, are simply responding to the divine canvas already painted by the Creator.
Just as the skies proclaim His glory, we too are His handiwork—crafted with intention, beauty, and purpose. As Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, we are created in Christ Jesus to do good works, reflecting the Master’s touch in all we do. May we live each day as a testament to His artistry, glorifying Him in every moment.
Creator God, we thank You for the majesty found in Your creation and the beauty You reveal to us daily. As we look upon Your mighty works—the sunrises and sunsets—may we recall Your glory and give thanks for each day.
Lord, just as the heavens declare Your glory, we are reminded that we, too, are Your handiwork. Help us to live as reflections of Your artistry, fulfilling the good works You have prepared for us. May we honor You with our lives and glorify You in all we do. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
