Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 NIV
It's fair to say most of us of a particular generation are resistant to change. We like things to remain the same because subconsciously, deep in the primitive parts of our brains, we perceive changes as threats. Eventually, we may accept something; however, we may not fully understand or trust this disruption to our safe places. An example of this is our smartphones. We may have consented to have them, but we frequently find them confusing and a bother. Life was easier when the telephone remained at home.
The message of God's sameness in today's verse is welcome news in this constantly transforming world. Where technology and beliefs are frequently influx, we can build spiritual reliance on Jesus's never-changing love, faithfulness, and commitment to offer forgiveness. The inconsistency of the world is temporary, but His grace has remained never-ending and changeless since creation and is eternal. As disciples, Jesus calls us to remain unwavering in our relationship with Him and each other.
Lord of the beginning and the end, we thank you for your constancy towards us. Amongst the changing world around us, you remain committed to your children and are the only thing we can rely on. Help us while navigating change to keep our eyes firmly focused on you. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
