The Unseen Thread

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” — 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)

We live in a world shaped by forces we cannot see. Not only do we trust them—we build entire systems and industries around them. Electricity powers our homes, though we never see the current. Financial markets rise and fall on invisible trust. Healthcare, technology, and even relationships rely on unseen forces like energy, emotion, and belief. These realities are woven into daily life, yet for many, faith in God can make the unseen feel elusive, even suspect.

Paul’s words remind us that the unseen is not only real—it is eternal. Human systems already rely on invisible truths: scientific theories, economic trust, and emotional healing. Even those who do not claim faith in God often place deep trust in what cannot be touched or proven in the moment.

But the visible world can be manipulated. Illusion, image, and disinformation can distort what we see and lead us astray. The truth, then, is not always obvious—it must be patiently uncovered, faithfully discerned.

Faith in God is not a rejection of reason. It is a widening of it. Philosophers and theologians alike have long wrestled with the nature of reality, asking what is truly knowable and what lies beyond perception. Faith invites us into that deeper knowing—not just of facts, but of relationship. It is the courage to believe that beyond the systems and structures we’ve built, there is a Presence that holds, heals, and endures.

Today, consider this: every unseen force we trust—gravity, breath, memory, love—is a thread in the tapestry of God’s wonder. The unseen is not empty; it is full of divine presence. And while not all unseen forces are good or trustworthy, the invitation of faith is to discern and anchor ourselves in the One who is.

Faith is not a blind leap, but a sacred alignment with the deeper reality that God is already at work, holding all things together. Let your trust stretch beyond the visible. Let it rest in the One who is unseen, yet always near.

God of mystery and meaning, you dwell in the spaces we cannot see, in the breath between words, the silence between thoughts, in the forces that shape our world and the love that shapes our hearts. Help us to trust not only what dazzles or demands attention, but what endures—Your truth, Your grace, Your presence. Teach us to see with faith, and to rest in the wonder of Your unseen work. Amen.

Peace & Grace,

Pastor Tim
