My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalms 42:2 NIV
From the time we are young, we experience spiritual stirrings. There is an awakening within our souls that spurs life's philosophical questions:
Who am I?
What is my purpose?
What is life about?
Is there a God?
These questions set us off in the pursuit of answers. We realize our thirst but may not yet know how it can be filled. We do not recognize it as God's call to us, "I have the water to fill your thirst." This calling is God's prevenient grace, the grace that comes before acceptance.
Those who have accepted Christ, who have tasted His waters, are here to help seekers find that thing that will satisfy their thirst. There is only one answer to all our questions: God.
Who am I? A beloved child of God.
What is my purpose? God has graced us with gifts and, led by the Holy Spirit, guides us in how to use them.
What is life about? It is about loving God, our neighbors, and living out that love.
Is there a God? Yes! He is alive and well.
God, we thank you for calling us to you. Thank you for Jesus Christ, by whom we are redeemed. Grant us strength and courage to share our faith with others that they may experience your living water. Amen.
Shalom,
Pastor Tim
