Though Moments

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk 3:17‭-‬18

We may relate to the writer; at times, it may be hard to see beyond those "though" moments; no crops, yield, sheep, or cattle. The dark and stormy clouds over us obscure the permanency of the sun. While this may be true for a time, we can take solace and find joy in the knowledge the clouds are temporary; the sun is still shining.

Whatever trials we face now; health, employment, bills – our faith and trust in God helps us through the "though" times. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." So we can be joyful in confidence we are not alone; God is with us.

Almighty and gracious God, we come rejoicing before you today. Although things sometimes appear grim, we proclaim your promise with confidence; you will never leave us or forsake us. You will remain with us always, even to the ends of the earth. Therefore, we give thanks and sing your praise, joining in a never-ending Hallelujah! Amen.

Shalom,

Pastor Tim
