Transformed

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 NIV

Paul's epistle to the Colossians advises them on how to live as new beings through Jesus. They had become transformed, forgiven, and filled with the Holy Spirit in accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord. And as a result of this inward change, they needed to make external changes as well: what others would witness. They can't see inside our souls, but they hear our words and see our actions.

Paul urges that, whatever we do, at work, service, or leisure, be for Jesus Christ. If you're a carpenter, be Jesus's carpenter doing everything to the best of your ability with love and pride. If you're bowling with friends, behave as if your shirt says Team Jesus on the back. If you're serving the homeless, look beyond the exterior to see Jesus. Whatever we do, we do in response to God's grace abundantly given to each of us.

Gracious Heavenly God, thank you for the precious gift of Jesus Christ. Help us to reflect the glory of our transformation to others. May they see the difference in us, evidenced by our words and actions. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
