Traveling in the Light
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 NIV
On our recent trip to Branson, Missouri, we took a scenic train through the southern part of the state to the Arkansas border. Part of that journey led through two tunnels. Inside the tunnels, it was extremely dark except for the light shining outwards through the windows onto the passing walls. Inside the lit cars, groups talked and laughed as they enjoyed each other's company.
As we travel in the light of Christ, we are never alone. Others are on the same journey, and we can rejoice together because of what Jesus did for us. In accepting Christ, we no longer have to travel through the dark tunnels of sin solo but can see it illuminated by his light. By bearing our sins upon the cross, he cleanses us from sin and welcomes us into fellowship with others.
God of light, we thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die for our sins, and we are grateful for the fellowship we enjoy by his gracious gift. Grant us boldness, courage, strength, and wisdom as we journey in your light. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
