Weebles and Faith

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”
Hebrews 10:23 ESV
In the ’70s there was a popular children’s toy called Weebles. They were egg-shaped with a weighted bottom and when you set them down they would rock back and forth but would remain standing. The advertising slogan was, "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down.”
Leading up to this verse, we are reminded of that through Christ’s willing sacrifice for us we can have direct access to God. We can, “draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.” (10:19 ESV). It is in this wonderful promise that we have confidence in God’s faithfulness. Sometimes, even with this knowledge, we may at times feel like a Weeble. Things may come that will rock us. We may wobble a bit but our belief in God and his faithfulness towards us keeps us standing — we may wobble, but we won't fall down.
God, we give you thanks for your Son who paid for our sins in order to provide a direct connection to you. We thank you for your faithfulness. We know sometimes we may rock and wobble but we can hold fast to the hope you give us. Amen.
