If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
After Solomon had completed the Temple, God came to him in a dream. God promises that when bad things happen, drought, famine, and plague, there will be healing when the people follow the wisdom in this verse.
We can certainly consider the last two years a plague and must, in complete honesty, acknowledge that we have largely left God out of the picture. Instead, placing our trust in the capabilities of man. I am not saying God cannot direct our actions. Indeed, he can, and that should be what happens. The question is, where do we place our faith in God or man?
Instead, what would happen if we humbled ourselves and sought God's guidance? If we turned away from sin -- which includes not following any other gods, how would that change where we are now? Would we still be living in fear of all variants that will follow? We must remember that God does not want us to live in fear and has given us the prescription. The question that remains is, what will we do? Will we humble ourselves and ask God for direction and trust in him? Or instead, place our faith in the fallibility of man and cling to fear?
Almighty God, we come humbly before you today, acknowledging your greatness. We place our trust totally in you. You are the architect of everything and understand its intricacies. So please forgive us for our arrogance and our sins, and lead and guide us in everything we do. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
