Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 NIV
In addition to tasting incredible, honey has many medicinal purposes and is used as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial agent. It helps soothe a cough and may help with allergy symptoms. As a sweetener, it is healthier than alternatives because it contains minerals and vitamins such as magnesium and potassium.
Our words can be honey, sweet, and healing. When we feel low, a kind word can bring smiles to our faces. Calls, cards, and letters from loved ones lift our spirits. Visits from family and friends when ailing may not heal our physical bones, but it is a balm to our hearts and minds.
As God's people, we are to share a little honey wherever we go. Whether it is visiting the sick, encouraging a friend, or offering a smile and hello to a stranger, we are sharing the love and hope of Jesus Christ in letting our light shine. While these may seem like simple things, their effect is priceless.
Gracious God, thank you for your love and compassion. We are thankful for the kind acts and words of others who have brought sweetness to our souls and healing to our bones. Help us spread good cheer today. Let our words be gracious and uplifting, bringing comfort and encouragement to all we meet. May they see you in us. We pray this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Shalom,
Pastor Tim
