God-breathed Word

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16‭-‬17 NIV At our Tuesday night Prayer Worship Service, we talked about the Bible. Is the Bible true? How can you reconcile faith and science? We have some great discussions in that mid-week service. To answer those questions, we first must accept that the Bible is a sacred text given by God to different authors. It was not the authors writing what they thought about God, but God himself - His Word - breathed into the authors. The writers were willing receptacles, recording the inspired Word from God's mouth to their ears to written Word. Why did God give us His Word? For "teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," this is God's driving guide to us. Whatever we are experiencing today, the answers we seek are within the pages of the Bible. As we read, like with the writers, we need to be receptacles to his voice. The application of the God-breathed Word, the interpretation of what it means to us in this day and time, comes through the Holy Spirit. We read not only with our eyes but with our ears. The Bible equips us. Everything we need to know as followers and servants of Christ is contained in scripture. The world is hungry for hope. They are in desperate need of the Good News that comes in a relationship with Christ. In studying the Bible and knowing what God has done and continues to do, we are prepared for the work God wants us to do right here, right now. God, we give thanks for your breathed Word, your driving guide for a righteous life. Please help us as we read your Word to interrupt its meaning for us. Equip us so that we may do your "every good work." Let us be your messengers of hope to a broken world. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen. Blessings! Pastor Tim
