Possibilities

She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

Proverbs 31:20 NIV

In reading Proverbs 31, about the woman of good character, it reminds us of someone. Perhaps our spouse, mother, grandmother, or friend who puts others before herself in every way. Her actions demonstrate her love.

What if we were instead to think more broadly, from that remembered person to the church. We are, after all, the bride of Christ. Reading this chapter in that context, what new thing is Christ inviting us to do? What new vision do we see for our churches? How will we put God's love for us into action for others?

God of grace, we give thanks for your love. Open our hearts to love and our minds to new possibilities as we discern your invitation to our churches. Lead us into your future, and let us see beyond the barriers to what is possible through your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
